There have been hurdles hopped and battles fought up to this point. There was the battle to get ourselves chartered, followed by the fight to get the first issue funded. Afterwards there was the hurdle of getting the people’s participation, and after sailing across this one we crossed the hurdle of people’s expectations. With one (two) issue(s) under our belts, a third just finished, and a fourth in the pipeline, now our battle is growth.
For Black Star magazine, “foundation” was the word in the ‘08-’09 year. For the ‘09-‘10 year we’re all about “evolution.” We’ll still be building a foundation and solidifying our role on this campus and in this city as volume-giver to voices. But we won’t just be restricting these voices to print pages where video and blogging are just as viable microphones. And we won’t just be telling news, we’ll be making it. Watch.
