The 2002-2003 season proved highly successful for the EAT, as math graduate student Gerry Tansey joined forces with senior Jake Armstrong, sophomore Peter Clericuzio, and theology grad student and captain Steve Bahnaman to form one of the strongest Division I teams in Emory history. The club was also aided by the addition UTC alumni and genetics PhD student Alysia Vrailes, along with Oxford College graduate Jason Scoggins and freshmen LaKedra Pam and Chi Zhang. Switching between Division I and Division II was the strong all-undergraduate B-team of sophomores Marcus Ballenger, J.T. Fetter, Avi Schwartz and Laura White.

In notable national achievements for the year, the Emory A team finished 9th at ACF nationals and 15th at the NAQT ICT in Los Angeles. Other accolades included first and second place finishes in Division I and II at the University of Tennessee - Chattanooga's Moon Pie Invitational tournament, third and fourth place at the University of Florida's Sunshine State Invitational, 19th of sixty teams at Pennbowl, first and third place at UTC's junior bird Swordbowl tournament, and first place at the Berry College Earlybird, and first and second place finishes in Division II and Division I at UTC's Center For the Known Universe tournament. The Emory Academic Team holds a high school tournament, the Emory Fall Classic, and also hosted TRASH regionals in Atlanta this past year.
