About the E.A.T.

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know
(Except, Perhaps, "Who Came Up With That Acronym?")

Originally established as the "College Knowledge Team" in 1978, Emory's quizbowl team was founded to provide an opportunity for Emory students at all levels of the University to engage in intercollegiate academic competition. Since those halcyon days of Tom Waters and the legendary perfect game, the EAT has gained recognition for its performance both in the South and at national competitions.

Though over the years, EAT members have played on questions as varied as Trash to CBI to ACF nationals, these days the team primarily concentrates on competition in NAQT and ACF-like formats, with some Trash and Park Bench trivia on the side. As far as individual games go, a round normally consists of twenty questions called "tossups," which are worth ten points and answerable by either team. Whichever player correctly answers the tossup is then presented with a multiple part, thirty-point bonus question, answerable by the entire team. As one might expect, the team with the most points at the end of the round wins.
